Anna Cecilia's nursing bra has been developed in co-operation with midwives and hundreds of nursing mothers.

The bra is made from a soft and quick drying fabric that draws the moisture away from the body so that the skin feels dry. This microfibre is non-allergenic and does not stiffen with dried milk. The unique inner lining provides excellent support while easy-to-use zippered cups make it easy to feed your baby discreetly wherever you are (some nursing bras use velcro or clips, which can be awkward to open and close).

Essential features of a nursing bra

You often leak milk - the fabric needs to dry quickly and draw the moisture away from your skin.

The milk must flow freely to prevent mastitis - the bra must be cut high and not be too tight, so there is no pressure on the milk ducts.

You are holding the baby - the bra needs to be easy to open and close with one hand, wherever you are.

You may wear the bra 24 hours a day - it has to be comfortable and give good support.

Your baby won't always need feeding in the privacy of your home - the bra opening system needs to provide discreet access.

Questions and Answers

Why isn't the Anna Cecilia feeding bra made from cotton?
Cotton is a very absorbent fabric, but dries slowly. With milk leakage, a cotton bra will stay wet for a long time, making you cold and uncomfortable. A cold breast does not let milk down as easily.

Will a microfibre bra make me too hot?
Microfibre breathes to allow heat to escape, so your breasts won't overheat. However, on a cold day, your bra will insulate, to provide the warmth that you need.

Should the inner lining cover the nipple?
Everybody's breasts are different, so that the nipple will sometimes sit under the inner lining. For larger cup sizes, this will always be true as the lining is cut higher to provide the additional support required. To feed your baby, simply pull down under the breast to expose the nipple.

Can my skin get caught in the zip?
Not if you have pulled the inner lining back into position after feeding. For added security, you may also like to pull the zip away from your body as you move it.

Does the zip show through if I wear a tight T-shirt or top?
No, the zip is hidden in your cleavage.

How to choose your bra

Buy a bra that is at least one cup size larger than your pre-pregnancy size, or the size that you are in the last weeks of your pregnancy.

The chest band is measured around your chest, just under the bust, rounding up to the nearest bra chest size. Cup size is calculated by subtracting your chest size from your bustline. The difference is converted into letters using the table below.
