Our Roomsets and Themes sections also contain a wide range of alternative Cotbed styles which, although part of co-ordinated ranges, may be purchased as individual items.
Cotbeds can be assembled as a conventional cot or, once baby has grown, as a child's bed. Some cotbed products are also available as conventional cots. These cots, although similar in appearance to the cotbed, cannot be converted into a child's bed and are smaller in size.
Never use a second-hand mattress. Even with siblings, always replace the old mattress with a new one as this reduces the risk of cot death. This advice does not apply to the Purflo mattress, which has a hollow core. The Department of Health BTSI/E leaflet and the 'Back to Sleep Campaign' give further advice on reducing the risk of cot death.
Place baby flat on its back in the cot, positioned with baby's feet at the foot of the cot and with the covers reaching no further than baby's shoulders.
